Description

This is taken over the course of four different nights, using both a 2600MM and a 2600MC. Candidly, it was going after this target that made me switch from OSC to mono.

The squid was very difficult to process and stretch while minimizing noise with the OSC data. However, with my new mono camera and 2.5nm filters I was able to manage it.

I started my astrophotography hobby back in December of 2022, never having owned a telescope before. To take this image, particularly the Oiii, I camped in a deserted part of Joshua tree (in the summer) and focused most of my time on the Oiii.

Most of the OSC data I took was rejected by NSG, so I had to integrate everything seperately which made processing much more difficult. Learned a lot here and my love of the hobby has only grown. Heavily inspired by many of the images on here as well!

I purchased Adam Block's entire course suite and walked through nearly all of his various segments to process this image. Without his course, I would not have been able to produce this - particularly the squid. Using LMT to reduce noise and combining this with LHE to enhance contrast dramatically enhanced NoiseX, which works wonders on the Oiii channel.
